Welcome to Brazil Student Teaching Abroad, Spring 2014!

Emergency Contact Information Sheet:

You received a copy of this in class on Wednesday, March 13th. Please keep that copy (or print another one off, downloadable above) and keep it with you AT ALL TIMES while you are abroad!

This wiki will be used as a tool to help with preparation and communication throughout this semester as you prepare for, and partake in, Brazil Student Teaching Abroad. Use the pages on the right side of the screen to navigate the resources and information provided for you. This will serve as the primary resource for Brazil-specific information. Also, we have provided some language learning tools, packing lists, visa instructions, and much more. Please familiarize yourself with the wiki before class begins in the spring.

You can find your class syllabus, readings, and sample class projects for ED 590 on the Moodle.

Saturday - Get breakfast at 6:00am. The bus leaves at 6:30am!

The rainforest excursion has been officially booked!
School Visit: April 8 (You do NOT need to pack a professional outfit for this visit. Just wear your regular rainforest clothes.)
Web Site:
http://www.cormorano.com.br/english/index.html
Guide/contact: Raphael Sobania, raphael@sobania.com.br
Packing: Please make sure you have sufficient clothing and footwear for this trip. It is a rainforest, so it's extremely damp....meaning you should bring quick-dry clothing if you can. The trails are very muddy, so please bring old shoes or hiking boots. A cheap pair of light weight rain boots work very well on these trails. A headlamp or flashlight is also necessary for this excursion, along with a rain jacket. Everything for this 3-day trip should be able to easily fit in a backpack, because you'll have to carry your belonging on the trail and on a small boat to get to the lodge.

*You only need to bring a small amount of money for this trip. Food and beverages like coffee and juice are included. If you want to purchase sodas or beers...you will need to pay for those separately. We will also be stopping in a few small towns to catch the boats - so if you want to buy a coffee or snack for that, you'll need to pay.
